Letdown
were formed in 2003 and were encouraged to form a band by the guitar
teacher that Nathan Messenger, Ben Rogers and Scott Kingsbury shared.
They all got on worryingly well from the start and musically, their
wide range of influences meant that early songs varied widely in style
from metallic punk to grunge. They wrote a number of songs very
quickly, Ben being refreshingly unafraid to just sing any lyrics and
ideas he had and the rest flowing quickly in the practice room.
What sets Letdown apart from
the other bands of their genre, is their technical proficiency. They
are all competent musicians and getting increasingly so with each
practice. Often a song will come complete with an apparently awe
inspiring guitar solo (guestbook comments on their website inspired
that comment!) which although spontaneous, fits the song well in songs
like "Wait and Wonder" and can easily be rendered live.
The band soon played a
couple of gigs after forming and they are now concentrating on working
together as a band and writing further material.
