WitHiN are on a mission. The music inspires.  The songs bring a message> of hope> of faith> of life.  It’s a blend of powerful vocals from richard hall and abi evans.  A mix of guitar styles> rock, funk, jazz, blues from Kev Boon and power and groove from John Rook on bass and Dek James on drums and most of all it’s about connecting with the audience.

Since forming in march 2002, WitHiN have got themselves noticed. Their debut appearance was in June last year at the Peterborough BBC Jubilee music live festival.  The vibe was good and the show was broadcast live on local radio. In July they got 2 play at the big local summer event for live bands> The Willow Festival.  They played 2 a packed house.  That month they also won the local AMP battle of the bands getting studio time and airplay on local radio.

They spent the next few months working on songs to record. The sound was developing as songwriters Kev, Rich and Abi worked both together and individually.  In October they recorded the four track EP “insight” at B and H studios.  On the dark funk of “Wrap Me Safe” lyrics came from poet Huw Howes (Abi’s Uncle).  Although the EP has yet to be officially released, “No Magic Man” has received airplay on local radio.

In October there was a set back when Daz, the original drummer, quit.  However, the band stayed positive and very soon met up with Corby-based Dek James.  He joined them for a gig at Geneva’s Bar Peterborough after only one practise. It was better than ever and he was in.

Although the band have their sights set high, they wanted to start by getting a name locally – they also needed the money! They have been busy playing local pubs and clubs. In November they played Peterborough’s main live music venue> The Metropolis Lounge.  As the name got about, helped by a great review in local entertainment magazine ESP and exposure in the local press, venues started getting packed out.

The band like 2 change things around depending on the crowd – the set would change for most gigs with more and more of their own material and the odd cover thrown in> a funked up Foxy Lady (Hendrix) , U Outta Know (Alanis), What’s Going On? (4 non blondes). One gig they did acoustic with Dek playing bongos and mandolin.  They have even been known to do some busking around town !

For Summer 2003, they are planning a return to the local festivals but also to get out of town.  They have taken on board top London photographer Paul Dunn to help with publicity and are looking for the right management to take them forward.
