Me (Against The World) was formed early in
2002 by Chris Hawkes, Sam Cox, Matt Tones and Pete Sandell. The band
quickly gained a loyal following in the local area in Hertfordshire,
England, after the release of their first demo and a handful of gigs at
popular venues The Square in Harlow, Club85 in Hitchin, and The Man on
the Moon in Cambridge.
During 2003 & 2004 the band made a
series of recordings at Farm Factory Studios in Welwyn Garden City, with
producer Bob Bradbury. A second demo release was made from these
sessions and included the old favourites "Room 6 (the Goodbye Song)",
"Never Let Go" and "Live and Let Rock".
As they wrote new material, the band
strayed from their 'pop-punk' beginnings and started to discover a new
sound derived from their differing personal musical influences. This
forged a path to the final of Rock Contest 2004 at Harlow Square, and
continues to grab the attention of music lovers everywhere.
In June 2004 the band released their
first album "Listen to the Stereo". This debut CD is an eleven-track
collection of all the 2003-4 recording sessions, and is described by
R*e*p*e*a*t fanzine as having "great guitars, great rhythms, great
singing, great choruses and just the right amount of shouting."
