Calling Orson Biography
The Band:

Calling Orson were formed in the spring of 1999 following the demise of their covers Band: Ro-sham-Bo. calling orson has brought together five very experienced musicians with five very different influences. The result: is an exciting, refreshing eclectic sound for the 2000's. They have produced 3 CD's, the latest of which was recorded and engineered at the BBC Maida Vale Studios. Their success in winning The Red Stripe Battle of the Bands has bought them a growing fan base in the Cambridge area, this coupled with their performances at the Half Moon in Putney means their reputation is now beginning to flourish in London. The latest CD contains 6 new tracks, which demonstrates what the Band is currently capable of, it is also a reflection of their tremendous potential.

Jim Coleman:

Vocals and one of the founder members of calling orson. Jim is originally from the Midlands, but now resides in the Cambridge area having moved here to complete his BSC in Audio/Music Technology. His influences cover a wide expanse from 70's soul to the modern Pearl Jam and The Red Hot Chilli Peppers. His vocals and lyrics come through strong and bold.

Andy Conroy:

Guitar and the other founder member of the Band, Andy was also born in the Midlands but grew up in Cambridgeshire. He studied locally completing his BSC in Music with Audio Technology at the Anglia Polytechnic University. Andy enjoys and is influenced by the Chilli's, John Frusciante and Dave Navarro, Ed Van Halen and SRV amongst many others. Andy's guitar playing is a powerful influence on the unique calling orson sound.

Jon Starling:

Jon is originally from north London but now lives in the Cambridge area since completing his BA in Music. Jon plays keyboards with the Band and has a diverse mixture of influences. He writes many of the tunes performed by calling orson and can be heard underpinning the strong rhythms of calling orson.

Jon Finnigan:

Drums. The Youngest member of the band but the most experienced performer. Jon was born and educated locally and has played with many local bands. He has been sponsored by Sabian since the age of 12 and is enrolled by Drum-Tech in London. His authoritative beats can be heard as part of the foundation of the calling orson sound.

Michael Macdonald:

Bass. Michael is originally from Glasgow and is known to his friends as Angus. Michael has a BA in music and is well known through out the county due to his teaching of bass and classical guitar in many of the local schools. His robust bass lines complete the foundations for the bands' sound.
